Honorable Minister Toto Helen Adoa Mourns the Passing of Her Grandmother, Loyce Norah Aumo
Honorable Minister Toto Helen Adoa is deeply saddened to announce the passing of her beloved grandmother, Loyce Norah Aumo, who recently celebrated her 90th birthday and reached the remarkable age of 100 a few months ago.
“My grandmother was my mother’s mother, a resilient woman who never had to visit a hospital or receive any injections. She relied on local medicine whenever she fell ill, which was rare. I remember her emphasizing three key principles:
- Women should maintain their marriages and not run away, regardless of the difficulties they face.
- She believed in eating un-fried food and smoked meat for longevity. Greens were always part of her side dishes.
- Cleanliness was essential to her, and she always matched her gomesi, dresses, or houses with this principle.
Loyce Norah Aumo was a mother of six children, of whom five are still alive – two sons and three daughters, including Honorable Adoa’s mother. She was not only a pillar of strength for her family but also a beacon of wisdom and traditional knowledge.
She will be laid to rest on Thursday in Ojingai village, Kelim parish, Kyere Subcounty, Serere District. The family plans to honor her legacy with a ceremony that reflects the principles and values she held dear.
