Hon. Minister Hellen Adoa: Championing Grassroots Empowerment in the Fight Against Corruption

Serere District’s Woman Member of Parliament and State Minister for Fisheries, Hellen Adoa, commended the transformative impact of community barazas she introduced last year in combating corruption and bolstering good governance.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Serere District headquarters, Minister Adoa underscored the pivotal role played by these barazas in holding leaders accountable for government programs and district management.

“These community barazas have emerged as crucial tools in our anti-corruption efforts, enabling citizens to demand transparency and answerability from our leaders,” remarked Minister Adoa.

Since their inception, these gatherings have provided platforms for direct engagement between citizens and local leaders, allowing for inquiries into various government initiatives and the overall administration of the district. Minister Adoa stressed that these forums have cultivated a culture of transparency and responsibility among leaders, who are now subject to heightened levels of scrutiny.

“Through these barazas, leaders are compelled to furnish comprehensive reports on the execution of government programs, ensuring the efficient and effective utilization of public funds,” she elucidated.

Moreover, Minister Adoa highlighted the tangible benefits stemming from increased community participation, noting that citizens’ involvement has led to the identification and resolution of critical issues within the district.

“We have witnessed notable enhancements in service delivery and governance due to the active engagement of our citizens in these barazas,” she added.

Minister Hellen Adoa reiterated her unwavering commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in Serere District through sustained support for initiatives like the community barazas. The success of these gatherings serves as a testament to the potency of grassroots engagement in driving positive change and fostering more accountable communities. Emuria TV Reports
